The worker bee has always been a symbol of Mancunian spirit, echoing the hive-like industry and solidarity that has driven its greatest achievements.

‘We all play our part’, it says. And that’s exactly what we’ve celebrated in what has become one of our most iconic tiles. Rendered in our distinctive pen and ink style, with a backdrop of vintage newsprint, it’s an understated nod to the inspiration, work ethic and determination that electrified the fabric of the city and still does.

Each Bee Tile is designed here in Manchester then screen printed and hand-rolled in the UK’s ceramic heartland Stoke-on-Trent, before returning for firing in local kilns. A fitting end for a quintessentially Mancunian statement.
